Unifi Technologies Guarantees to Users to Meet all ‘Meaningful Use’ Criteria as Set Forth by Health and Human Services
BEND, Ore., February 1, 2010/ -- Unifi Technologies makes both a commitment and guarantee to each Unifi-Med User that it will meet all ‘Meaningful Criteria’ set forth by the CMS, Centers for Medicare and Medicare Services, in order to received allocated Stimulus Monies.
Randy Barnes, COO of Unifi Technologies, weighs in on Unifi’s position when it comes to meeting ‘Meaningful Use’ certification:
“Any serious EMR Company must guarantee to its users that it will adhere to the government’s final determination of ‘Meaningful Use’ or get out of the game. Unifi makes this guarantee. There was much talk about CCHIT certification which is an expensive proposition and ultimately will not dictate receipt of stimulus dollars. ‘Meaningful Use’ as part of the ARRA as it relates to Medicaid and Medicare stimulus incentives is the key. Unifi Technologies makes the commitment to adhere to any all specifications set forth by the government. We keep watching, reading, engaging and insuring Unifi-Med complies with the certification criteria knowing this is still a work in progress. The day the final announcement is made Unifi-Med will begin this certification process. Our customers have our commitment and our guarantee.”
The CMS reports: As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) government working groups recommend requiring providers meet a set of standards to be considered a “qualified electronic health record” to received incentive payments for the meaningful use of certified EHR technology. Qualified EHR require users, according to CMS, adopt, implement, or upgrade certified EHR technology for “meaningful use” in the first year and demonstrate meaningful use during each of five subsequent years. The official definition is not expected until first quarter 2010 and is thought by many to be quite an optimistic estimation.
