FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  January 5, 2007

BEND, Oregon—Unifi Technologies, Inc., of Bend, Oregon, a provider of web-based solutions for the Medical Industry, today announced the release of the latest version of Unifi-Med Unifi-Med is a 100% Internet-based, fully-integrated, Electronic Medical Records and Practice Management solution. Unifi-Med provides easy and secure access to a complete suite of capabilities by providers, clinic staff, and patients, anytime; from anywhere internet access is available.  Initially, Unifi-Med will be offered to all Healthcare providers in North America.

Unifi-Med invokes the “Software as a Service” (SaaS) model, eliminating the need for client software or computer servers, and the staff required to manage them, on the clinic premises.  The SaaS delivery method along with Unifi’s “pay as you go” pricing allows providers to get up and running on Unifi-Med with no up-front costs. All information is stored in Unifi-Med's state-of-the-art, secure, redundant data centers.  Information is transmitted over secure, "strongly encrypted", Internet connections.  Customers will have a fully-integrated suite: Electronic Medical Records, Practice Management, Billing and Accounts Receivable.  In addition, customers may choose to outsource their Billing and Accounts Receivable activities to Unifi Technologies.

Unifi-Med sends prescriptions directly to pharmacies, making the process of dispensing medication faster and more accurate.  Providers can seamlessly transfer patient information and create Electronic Health Records that can combine patient data from any source, including those that use different Electronic Medical Record systems and those that are not computerized at all.  Patients can access the application directly via the web to view and request appointments, initiate prescription refills, access their personal medical records, and check the status of insurance claims.  In addition, patients can create secure and private Personal Health Records, the combination of medical records created at any number of medical practices along with any additional information such as medical supplements taken, dietary planning documents, and living wills.

Bendt Brodersen, President of Unifi Technologies, Inc., states that “healthcare information management in the U.S. is under tremendous stress.  Congress and State Legislatures are working to solve problems related to managing patient medical records, while at the same time, changes to Medicare and mandates from regulatory agencies are raising the cost of providing care and reducing what a physician can charge.  There is increased pressure on medical providers to reduce costs while increasing oversight and mandating the use of expensive technologies, driving some practices out of business.  Our solution meets the needs of a changing market and changing regulations while passing the price/performance advantages of modern web-based technology on to our customers.”
